December 12, 2006 Digital Payment Joins the Tropos MetroMesh™ Solution Partner Program Vancouver, BC — Digital Payment Technologies Corp., a leading supplier of advanced parking meters and revenue-management solutions for the global parking industry, is announcing today that it has joined the Tropos Networks’ MetroMesh Partner Program. Digital Payment’s LUKE on-street and Shelby off-street parking pay stations are certified to connect directly to the Tropos MetroMesh architecture, providing cost effective real time parking solutions that include real time credit card processing, monitoring and alarming, pay by cell phone integration, real time reporting, and remote rate and pay station configuration capabilities. Wirelessly enabled parking systems minimize lost revenue from non-payment and broken meters which can be of significant value in the multi-billion dollar parking industry. The first deployment of the Digital Payment and Tropos integration is currently taking place in Houston, TX where 750 LUKE parking pay stations are being deployed and networked together using a WiFi system utilizing Tropos equipment. This project represents the first municipal parking-meter system in the U.S. that does not rely on a cellular network, but instead communicates exclusively using a dedicated 802.11g WiFi network. The City of Houston is evaluating the performance of this WiFi system to determine if it can be expanded to assist public safety and public service employees to improve the accuracy and timeliness of their duties. “The rapid market acceptance of the LUKE on-street pay station by municipalities across North America and the emergence of metro mesh networks as a viable technology make our partnership with Tropos a natural fit.
