Credit Card Data Security Assured with New Parking Meters Coming to Riverside
Vancouver, B.C. - Digital Payment Technologies (DPT), a leading supplier of electronic parking meters
and Internet-based management solutions for the global parking industry, is pleased to announce its recent
order from the City of Riverside, CA, to supply 32 LUKE parking pay stations to the city's downtown Justice
Center.
The LUKE parking pay stations will accept credit cards, bills, coins, and Pay-by-Cell phone transactions.
Using the city's Wi-Fi network, the pay stations will be networked together to provide capabilities to parkers
such as the ability to add time at any pay station. City officials will also have online access to real-time
revenue reports and the ability to remotely change screen messages and rates. Integrated solar panel
technology will be used to keep each pay station charged.
The move to the LUKE pay stations was primarily initiated because the existing 12-year-old multi-space
meters can no longer accept credit cards as these meters fail to meet the Payment Card Industry's (PCI)
data security standards. LUKE has been validated by qualified security assessors to ensure the product
meets the latest standards outlined by credit card companies such as Visa and MasterCard.
"These meters offer visitors more options and convenience than ever before," comments City Councilman
Mike Gardner. "The LUKE system even has the capability of sending the user a text message warning that
time is about to expire and the ability to add time remotely by cell phone."
The LUKE pay stations targeted for the Justice Center are expected to be installed and operational by May.
In the meantime, citizens and government officials from Riverside are also evaluating LUKE for downtown
streets and surface parking lots outside of the Justice Center neighborhood.
